PPL training - Solo 3
| 2 minutes read, 228 wordsOnly a couple days since my previous solo, with the weather and the opening hours I have to take what I can get. And today I got a full solo lesson and a half instrument lesson in the two hours the airport was open. I’m very happy with that!
I was much closer to the centerline today, and had much smoother touchdowns than last time. So even though I still have a long way to go, I am definitely improving!
Even though the scheduled traffic is centered around the limited opening hours, I managed to do the entire lesson without having to do any holding at all.
Usually they want us to fly right patterns when runway 13 is in use, and left hand patterns when runway 31 is in use at Karmøy, since that takes us away from nearby houses and make it much easier for the tower to see us. But this time I got to try both right and left patterns for runway 13.
It’s strange how different it feels when you approach the runway from the other direction, when you’re used to always doing a specific pattern. So this was very valuable training for me.
I managed to do 11 landings in the 50 minutes I had.
And I’m finally starting to realize that I am actually flying the airplane. Myself. All alone!
