PPL training - Custom lesson - Crosswind landings
| 1 minute read, 183 wordsThere was a lot of crosswind when I started working on the basic maneuvers, but almost none when I was working on my landings. So I needed more training on crosswind landings. The winds today were just good enough for some crosswind training, so I booked a lesson right after another student.
As a bonus, I got to ride in the backseat for his lesson. Or at least for the first part of it, I had to lay down a bit afterwards to avoid getting sick…
But after that it was my turn! And the winds had picked up a bit, which was perfect for this lesson!
While preparing for this lesson, I used X-Plane and Microsoft Flight Simulator to practice the crosswind landing technique.
Since I have rudder pedals for my simulator, this actually turned out to be quite useful!
I had much better technique this time, and got some great practice done today.
My instructor told me that I would eventually start to really enjoy crosswind landings. I found that hard to believe. (I later learned that he was right)
