The Finnish Aviation Museum is located near the Helsinki Vantaa airport, and focuses on the history of aviation and air sports in Finland.

A little bit of everything
As with most aviation museums of this size, you get a little bit of everything. Old aircraft. Small aircraft. Big aircraft. And a little bit of ATC. It was nice to see that also air sports is represented, and even more interesting to learn about how large the Finnish air sports organization is (they even put on their own annual air show).

Simulators
The museum has a separate simulator center, where you amongst several different simulators can book sessions in a Boeing 737-8 MAX simulator. The simulators don’t run all days, and require advance booking (usually one week in advance, according to the museum website).
There is a basic simulator in the children play area, which you can use for free.

An old Cessna outside
There is also an old Cessna outside, where you can let the kids (of all ages) play inside. I love it when museums actually let people play with the airplanes! It’s a great way to spark interest.

Gift shop
The museum has a decent gift shop with various aviation related gifts and books.
How much time should you plan to spend here?
You should plan to spend at least a couple hours at this museum. More of course if you book any of the simulators.
